THE Verulamian Chariots Under 14s hosted a triangular with teams from Stockwood Park and local rivals Old Albanians welcomed to Cotlandswick.

The first game saw both visiting teams take to the field but it was Stockwood Park who showed their strength and good running with a convincing 48-0 win over Old Albanians.

The Vees then took to the park to play Stockwood Park and, after losing an early score, the home side responded with a powerful charge by Jamie McLachlan from the base of a maul to level with a try. Two late scores by Stockwood Park, one of which was converted, led to a 5-17 win result.

Vees and OAs clashed in the final game and an early try by Jamie McLachlan, who ran the length of the pitch, gave the Vees confidence.

Man of the Match Emil Mupemhi used some excellent hand-offs to muscle his way over for a further score, which was ably converted by captain Charlie Rainsford.

With a second defeat in prospect, the OAs bounced back with a converted try, followed soon after by a further well-worked backs try.

With scores even, both teams were keen to get ahead, and charges from Callum Ward and Emil gave Ri Dollie the chance to get his name on the scoresheet. OAs had the last word with a try taken from a penalty and the final score was 17-17.

The Vees coach was pleased with the progress of his squad who are improving with each game. New players are always welcome. For more information see www.vrugby.com
