Royston Town manager Steve Castle says there is an offer on the table for Scott Thomas and it is up to the player whether he signs it or not.
The midfielder is on dual registration at Garden Walk from St Albans City and has been building his fitness up with the Southern League Premier Division club.
And the Crows manager wants to make his stay a permanent one.
He said: “He was no contract at St Albans and so he’s no contract with us. He’s a free agent if you like, and he’s dual registered.
“He is free to go back to St Albans after a week or a month or whatever it is.
“We’ve made him an offer to stay. It’s Scott’s choice. If he is able to play week in week out at National South level, then that’s something we can’t match just yet.
“But he’s enjoying his football with a lot of people he knows and likes, so we’re hopeful he’ll stay.
“But we’re not taking anything for granted.”
