HARPENDEN Rovers Reserves’ league winning streak dating back to the October 9, 2010, came to an end along with their title ambitions after losing 5-3 to champions elect Letchworth.
Rovers started brightly and had several great chances to take the lead but the Letchworth ‘keeper made a couple of great saves.
Rovers then hit the self destruct button conceding four soft goals from set pieces in a 10-minute spell. Rovers grabbed a goal back through Ben Warren, but again another soft goal was conceded on the stroke of half time and Rovers trailed at the break 5-1.
Rovers brought on Matt Chugg and Tom Clarke who injected some life and passion into Rovers’ performance and Clarke grabbed a goal with 20 minutes to go.
Rovers continued to dominate but missed several good chances and when Matt Richardson blasted in from 25 yards it was merely a consolation.
