SHL Division Two

Redbourn 100 Hemel Hempstead II 101-5

Hemel won by five Wickets

ANOTHER poor Redbourn batting display meant a fourth successive defeat as they went down by five wickets at the hands of Hemel Hempstead II.

Batting first, only Dan Roe (18) and Geoff Tookey (13) of the top order made it into double figures as Redbourn slumped to 53-8. Jack Dyer, batting at number eight, top scored with 23* as he helped the last two wickets put on 47 as Redbourn were all out for 100.

In the field, Jon Fleming gave Redbourn hope removing Hemel opener Morgan with the second ball of the innings. Darren Bassill (1-9) was soon in on the act taking the wicket of Hemel captain Clark thanks to a good catch from Ben Farrar before a knee injury brought a premature end to Bassill’s fine spell.

There were further wickets for Tookey, Fleming (2-42) and Roe, but Redbourn were unable to remove Akhtar who finished unbeaten on 68 and saw Hemel comfortably home to win by five wickets.
