Southgate Adelaide II 195-9 (53.0) Redbourn II 196-1 (39.2)

REDBOURN II are now eyeing promotion after their fourth win of the season in Division Seven on Saturday.

Visitors Southgate Adelaide IIs won the toss and were in confident mood after a couple of recent victories. They chose to bat first and set a good initial run rate despite two wickets for Redbourn opener Jamie Doherty (2 for 22).

Opening bat Aldridge had great support from Siddique (45) and at 140 for 3 with 15 overs remaining Southgate were looking to push on for a big score.

Spinner Matt Lloyd bowled consistent line and length and when wicket keeper Graeme Smyth caught Siddique with a diving catch off Chris Godfrey's bowling Redbourn were back in the game. Tight late bowling by Pete Cridland (1 for 44), an outstanding boundary catch by Mat Cramer, and Lloyd completing his best spell of bowling for the club (4 for 52) enabled Redbourn to keep the score under 200. Aldridge was out in the last over for 93 with Southgate finishing on 195 for 9 off 53 overs.

Redbourn's reply was dominated by a high quality opening stand between David Smith and Toby Ascroft. Taking advantage of every bad ball they made the total of 195 look very mediocre. Ascroft was caught for 80 with the score at 151 before Cramer smashed 25 off 11 balls to reach 196 for 1 off 39 overs. David Smith finished 69 not out.

Redbourn III maintained their unbeaten run with a thumping victory at Ickleford IIIs in Division 13. Batting first an opening stand of 67 between John Pritchard (66) and Don Juan Darvell (21) gave Redbourn a great platform. There were contributions from Tom Cridland (15) and Richard Smyth (17), before Rik Bijpie recorded a league personal best of 36 not out. Redbourn declared on 211 for 9.

Ickleford looked in trouble from the start of their reply with Geoff Bassill (2 for 18) removing the opening pair. Cridland and Sinfield took out the middle order before Darvell cleared out the tail (4 for 11). Ickleford were all out for 68 off 26 overs.

League leaders Redbourn III have won eight out of eight fixtures this season and host Waltham X Rosedale IV on Saturday.
