Redbourn Cricket Club stormed to the top of Saracens Hertfordshire Cricket League Division Three A with a thumping eight-wicket win away to Welwyn Garden City 2nds.
They lost the toss at Digswell Park and watched as the hosts not only put themselves into bat but made a solid start.
The pick of the opening three batsmen was Andrew Lovell hitting 10 fours in a 78-ball 56.
City were on 104-1 when he was eventually trapped lbw by Conor Yorath and his dismissal sparked a huge collapse.
Only the first three made it to double figures as the rest of the batting order fell away leaving WGC all out for just 136.
Yorath picked up another wicket to finish on 2-17 while Josh Arnold went just that bit better, claiming 2-12 from his 10 overs and bowling seven maidens.
Steve Richards, Adam Pritchard, Alex Salter and William Giacometti all got one each and there were also two run-outs.
The Redbourn reply didn’t even get to the halfway point as they rattled off 140 for the loss of just two wickets in the 23rd over.
Pritchard went off the bowling of Edward Tucker with the score on 22 and it had moved onto 39 when Tucker claimed the wicket of Edward Hales.
But a run-a-ball 52 from George Naismith that included 10 fours and 39 from Daniel Roe, achieved slightly more conservatively from 46 balls, saw Redbourn home with time and wickets to spare.
They have now all three of their games that have reached a finish, the same as Datchworth who are level on points behind them.
Redbourn host Met Police Bushey at The Common on Saturday.
That was the venue for the second team’s Division Six A match with Tewin, although they did not enjoy as positive a result as their first team counterparts.
Tewin are on a roll right now and their 56-run victory puts them second in the standings.
Redbourn won the toss and put Tewin into bat but some lusty blows took the visitors to a commanding 272-7.
Luke Wilde (82) and Will Pickworth (84) did the damage.
Redbourn tried to rally but some tight bowling kept them contained and in they end they came up just short.
