St Albans-based rugby club Verulamians RFC has reported a record number of players registering to play this month in the run up to a busy season ahead.

As well as three adult teams, the club has a thriving youth section, covering age groups from U6 up to U16, and is always keen to welcome new players at any stage of the season.

“I’m delighted that our mini and junior section is going from strength to strength,” said Angela Clifford, mini and junior chairwoman.

“We’re hoping to build on a very successful year last season, with the U10 team winning the county championship.”

The club undertook extensive refurbishment of its clubhouse over the summer, and has received a further RFU grant for more work this autumn. Verulamians is a friendly community rugby club just off the London Colney gyratory on the A414 opposite Ayletts Nursery. Visit www.verulamians.co.uk for details.
