TWO pupils from Radlett were given their chance to shine at Lord's earlier this month when they were mascots for the Middlesex v Essex LV County Championship clash.
Mackenzie Lemon, aged 11, and Sahil Shah, also aged 11, from Fair Field Junior, Watford Road, Radlett, one of more than 100 schools involved in the Cricket Foundation Chance to Shine campaign, took the spotlight in the middle for the official coin toss by Middlesex Captain Ed Smith and Essex Captain Mark Pettini. They then watched the watched the action on Friday, June 6 and visited MCC's Museum and Spirit of Cricket Factory.
Chance to shine is the single biggest grass-roots sports development programme ever undertaken in Britain. The campaign, run by the Cricket Foundation, aims to establish regular coaching and competitive cricket opportunities in a third of state by 2015. To achieve this, £25million needs to be raised through private donors, which the Government has pledged to match-fund.
