A five-wicket win at home to Letchworth Garden City shows Radlett are in determined mood in their battle for Saracens Herts Cricket League Premier Division silverware.
They won the toss and elected to field at Cobden Hill and a youthful Letchworth side made a solid enough start, thanks in the main to skipper Tom Simmons.
He went on to make 73 but was unable to keep anyone with him for long enough in the face of an experienced spin attack.
And only three other men made double figures as Radlett bowled out their visitors for 172 in the 47th over.
Radlett’s captain Kabir Toor and Muhammed Adil Zareef were the main men, taking 4-28 and 3-38 respectively, while Anthony Hill chipped in with 2-33.
Fakir Dungaria claimed the other wicket.
Radlett openers Tom Jenkins and Fraser Crawford had put on an unbeaten stand of 231 last year in the same fixture but they didn’t last too long this time around, with the pair gone by the time Radlett had made 46.
But Toor had arrived after Jenkins’ departure and along with Charlie Nicholls the pair steadied the innings.
Nicholls was bowled by Adam Jenkins for 32 and Toor then went for 54, Jenkins again the bowler as Radlett moved on to 129-4.
And they only lost one more wicket as 36 not out from Zareef steered them home with over 10 overs to spare.
Radlett now go to North Mymms on Saturday, who started the season with victory away at champions Welwyn Garden City.
A wonderful knock of 90 from just 78 balls by Jasdeep Singh gave the thirds a six-wicket win over Hertingfordbury.
Singh had earlier taken two wickets along with Mohibur Adnan.
The fourths were also a happy bunch after a 44-run win over Stevenage 3rds.
Nick Fielden’s 48 and Dominic Ingram’s 3-10 were the standout performances with bat and ball.
But the seconds could not deliver a clean-sweep of victories as they slumped to a 70-run loss to Southgate Compton.
Good bowling and fielding kept the hosts to just 98, Azhar Kayani (3-14), Matthew Rose (3-17) and Ross Carpenter (3-19) doing the damage.
But the batting line-up failed to deliver and were all out for a measly 25, with no player making double figures.
