Home Counties Division Two East
North Mymms 267-6
RADLETT battled out for a lucky draw against North Mymms in the Home Counties Division Two East after a poor all-round performance.
After winning the toss Radlett elected to bowl first on a rather moist and sticky wicket which looked like offering something for the bowlers. This seemed like a wise decision with Shane Burger claiming an early wicket leaving North Mymms 2-1 after two overs.
After a lengthy battle at one end of the wicket Burger got Radlett’s second wicket, a North Mymms player who looked slightly out of his depth.
Stephen Snell, a player on the cards at Gloucestershire, played extremely aggressively taking the attack to Radlett’s bowlers allowing himself to score rather easily at more than five an over for the first 15.
Snell’s innings of 108 included a mixture of elegant stroke play with sheer power before being bowled by an effective Robert Crocker. Crocker found himself as the pick of Radlett’s bowlers ending with figures of 2-69 in 16 overs. He was closely supported by left arm spinner Rob Clements who also claimed a couple of wickets. Mymms ended on 267-6.
Radlett’s batting was poor from the start with Kabir Toor being clean bowled in the first over, closely followed by Clements who was trigged lbw by an umpire who kept his hands safely in his pocket for much of the first innings.
At lunch Radlett were 72-3. Things did not improve for Radlett after lunch with wickets falling at regular intervals through both good bowling and loose batting. Jenkins and McLean were the only Radlett batters who showed any determination on a tricky wicket getting 41 and 49 respectively.
Radlett were able to battle out the draw nine wickets down ending on 177 for nine in their allotted 49 overs.
