Radlett back to winning ways

NORMAL service resumed for Radlett on Saturday as they recorded their 12th win of the season.
The Cobden Hill outfit lost their first game of the season last weekend against Chorleywood, a result that ended any hopes of an unbeaten campaign.
With the pressure of going all year without a loss alleviated, Radlett got back to what they do best: bowling teams out for low totals and chasing aggressively.
It was no surprise when Jonathan McLean won the toss and elected to unleash his bowling attack. His confidence paid dividends as Chad Barrett took the first three wickets before 30 runs were on the board.
The seamer removed opener Jamie Balkham for nought before dismissing Matt Byrne (0) two balls later to leave Hoddesdon 13-2. Rob Walters (19) was his third scalp but Todd Sturdy (43) and Rob Harcombe made him wait to complete his four-wicket haul.
The pair added 48 for the fourth wicket, Kabir Toor trapping Harcombe LBW, which sparked a collapse. Hoddesdon slumped for 80-4 to 84-6 as Barrett removed Sturdy and Neil Lederman dismissed Ross Angelini (0).
A flurry of wickets in the tail end – two each for Toor and Rob Clements – saw Hoddesdon post a sub-par score of 117 from 51.3 overs.
In typical fashion, Radlett smashed their way to 55 before the first wicket fell. Fraser Crawford was the only wicket, trapped LBW after scoring 27 from 35 balls, including six fours.
Toor (41no) and Tom Jenkins (42no) rotated the strike and raced past the target in 24.2 overs. It was the seventh time this year that Radlett has won by a margin of five or more wickets.
With second-placed Hemel Hempstead Town losing to Sawbridgeworth, Radlett have a comfortable 71-point lead at the top of the table with four games remain in the season.
This Saturday, Radlett welcome Letchworth Garden City to Cobden Hill, 11.30am start.
