IT was the turn of the young hopefuls to prove their promise as Herts took on Berks, Bucks, Oxon and Bedfordshire in an inaugural inter-county clash for the under-12s and under-13s at the Temple club and they did it in style with victories over both rival teams.

Herts beat both BB&O and Bedfordshire 51/2 to 451/2, and the latter two counties ended in a tie, 5-5. In the singles clashes for the under-13s, Will Aldred (Mid Herts) won against Beds 6&5 and BB&O 5&3, as did Alex Lee (Stevenage) for the under 12s, one hole and two holes.

In the under 13s, James Bosnan (Sandy Lodge) won 2&1 against Beds, Tom Hughes (West Herts) won 6&4 against Beds and halved against BB&O and Matthew Siggins (Bushey) matched him, 4&2 and a half.

In the under 12s, Billy Woodcraft (Broxbourne) halved with Beds, won one hole BB&O; Jamie Knight (Redbourn)and Jarvis Hinds (Mill Green) halved against BB&O.
