IT was the turn of the young hopefuls to prove their promise as Herts took on Berks, Bucks, Oxon and Bedfordshire in an inaugural inter-county clash for the under-12s and under-13s at the Temple club and they did it in style with victories over both rival

IT was the turn of the young hopefuls to prove their promise as Herts took on Berks, Bucks, Oxon and Bedfordshire in an inaugural inter-county clash for the under-12s and under-13s at the Temple club and they did it in style with victories over both rival teams.

Herts beat both BB&O and Bedfordshire 51/2 to 451/2, and the latter two counties ended in a tie, 5-5. In the singles clashes for the under-13s, Will Aldred (Mid Herts) won against Beds 6&5 and BB&O 5&3, as did Alex Lee (Stevenage) for the under 12s, one hole and two holes.

In the under 13s, James Bosnan (Sandy Lodge) won 2&1 against Beds, Tom Hughes (West Herts) won 6&4 against Beds and halved against BB&O and Matthew Siggins (Bushey) matched him, 4&2 and a half.

In the under 12s, Billy Woodcraft (Broxbourne) halved with Beds, won one hole BB&O; Jamie Knight (Redbourn)and Jarvis Hinds (Mill Green) halved against BB&O.
