‘Come to Clarence Park and cheer us on’ was the message to fans from joint manager James Gray ahead of St Albans City’s first home game of the season on Monday.
The Saints play their first home game of the season tomorrow night against Oxford City at Clarence Park, kick-off 7.45pm.
“It’s a Monday night under the floodlights. There’s not much else going on football-wise so come down to Clarence Park and cheer us on,” he said.
“We’ve made exciting new signings and it feels like a new dawn at the club. Hopefully the fans will come out because we need them.”
The impact of the ‘12th man’ on Monday could be huge because not much is known about Oxford following their transfer from National League North.
“I know nothing about them - I know a few of the players there but they’re an unknown entity,” admitted Gray, who made his first league appearance for St Albans against Oxford in a 3-1 loss.
“They’re playing Chelmsford [City] on Saturday so we’ll have them watched, get a report and we’ll try and do what we can on Monday.

“It doesn’t matter who we play; they all have quality. I always say that we need to get our end of the bargain right. If we do that, we give ourselves a chance in any game we play.”
