Home Counties Premier League Division One

RADLETT suffered a second consecutive defeat in the HCPL against Banbury last Saturday at Cobden Hill.

Having won the toss Shane Burger decided to bat and the decision looked a sound one until Bullick removed Fielden (five) and the rot set in. Smith picked up Toor (seven), Burger (0) and Jenkins (0) in the next over and suddenly Radlett were in deep trouble.

Sandino-Taylor (29) had looked comfortable throughout until he received a brute of a delivery from Smith that was spectacularly caught at slip and Paul Barker was also snared fantastically at gully two overs later.

Gradually wickets continued to fall with only Mike Crocker (15no) able to nullify some clever bowling from the Banbury attack.

93 didn't look enough and although Radlett had Banbury under pressure throughout the reply, all-rounder Bullick did enough to steer the away side home with 31 not out.

However Radlett's attack showed outstanding fight picking up six wickets shared around between Burger (one), Fortis (one), Paynter (two) and Sandino-Taylor (two).

Having started the season with two defeats some outside of Cobden Hill will be expecting a difficult season for Radlett in the HCPL but Burger is confident that a string of wins is just around the corner for his side.

"I've actually been pretty pleased with how the boys are going about their games," he said.

"We were just short of some luck v Banbury and the result could easily have gone the other way.

"No one is too downbeat at the start we've had, I think we can begin getting some wins on the board at Slough next weekend.
