St Albans City take a break from their travails in the Vanarama National League South when they head to Suffolk for a FA Trophy tie.

Lowestoft Town of the National League North provide the opposition for the third qualifying round match tomorrow (Saturday).

The Trawlerboys find themselves in a similar position to City.

They sit 17th in the table, two places and two points above the relegation zone, and come into the game on the back of only one win in eight in the league, although they are unbeaten in the last three.

And while admitting it won’t be easy, St Albans’ joint-manager Jimmy Gray says the change from league action is a chance for Saints “to get something going”.

He said: “It’s going to be tough, it’s another early start. We seem to have had a lot of long journeys recently. But it will be a pleasant journey.

“There’s going to be no pressure on us in the game.

“You look at Gosport. Two years ago they were FA Trophy finalists.

“It’s going to take a good run to get us to that stage from where we are now but I’ve seen plenty to say we just need a bit of fortune to give someone a hammering.”

He added: “If we can get the first goal and the second, it’ll take the pressure off. But I’ve told the boys we’ll go to Lowestoft and try and bring the victory back.”
