East Women's League Division One South
Harpenden 2 Letchworth 0
TWO goals from Player of the Match Julia Power gave a depleted Harpenden Ladies the points as they continue their bid to pull away from the foot of the table.
Harps made a positive start, despite Letchworth lauching attacks down the wing. The home defence kept their composure and provided a solid base from which to launch their own attacks.
Harpenden went close on several occasions before the break but the opening goal eluded them.
Alan Clark's half-time team talk gave the side some drive and they were rewarded when Power fired home following a fluent move that involved all of the forwards.
The win was sealed when Power dived in to get on the end of a cross and score her second of the game. A good win and a great team performance leaves Harpenden going into the festive break with building confidence and looking forward to the second half of the season.
l Victoria Sandell scored as the Ladies IIs drew 1-1 with Welwyn IIs. Julia Burnell was awarded Player of the Match.
