St Albans Amputee FC looking to boost numbers

FOOTBALL: A NEW football club, formed in St Albans as part of a national initiative by the England Amputee Football Association, is on the lookout for new players.

St Albans Amputee FC has just been formed and already has around half a dozen players on board.

The club will be managed by EAFA regional contact Peter Monk, himself a player, holding its training sessions between 10am and 12pm at Highfield Sports Centre in St Albans on Sundays.

The training sessions are open to participation by anyone with an amputation, congenital deficiency or other limb affected disorder

Peter said: “It’s going ok, we’ve only just formed but our sessions will really start in March.

“This was set up by the English FA and I’ve taken over the Herts/Beds/Bucks & Anglia region.

“I’ve played mainstream football, for teams like Sandridge, and I’ve been a successful manager in the Welwyn Hatfield Sunday League.”

Anybody who is interested in joining the club can contact Peter on 07831 162759 or email him at homecounties@theEAFA.co.uk
