St Albans City have bolstered the squad for the Conference South season with the signing of Loick Pires.

The Portuguese striker started in the youth team at Stoke City before joining Leyton Orient, where he earned a professional contract in 2008, making his first-team debut against Doncaster Rovers. Whilst with the O’s Loick was awarded the inaugural Leyton Orient Community Player of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to the club’s community sports programmes and youth schemes.

He signed for Welling United in July 2010, making more than 60 appearances in two seasons, weighing-in with goals on a regular basis and winning the players’ player award at the end of the 2011/12 campaign.

He stepped up to a higher level with Woking during the summer of 2012 and became a regular in the squad at Kingfield.

Pires rejoined Welling United for the 2013/14 Conference Premier campaign. However, injury last October disrupted his season and he went out for two loan spells in early 2014 in order to regain full fitness prior to becoming a free agent towards the end of the term.
