ST ALBANS Men's made it seven straight league wins by recording a comprehensive 8-0 victory over City of Peterborough II at Clarence Park.

The side haven't lost since October when they went down to the table-topping Harleston Magpies. They are now second in the table, five points behind Harleston who boast a 100 per cent record.

The IIs also recorded a win, beating Spencer IV 3-1.

l Harpenden slumped to their fourth straight defeat as they went down 3-2 to Pelicans on Saturday. Tom Bunbury and Wayne McGuire scored the goals for Harps.

The IIs lost 5-1 in their bottom of the table clash with West Herts IIs.

Tom Preest scored for the second week running as Harpenden IIIs overcame West Herts IVs 2-1. The veteran striker deflected a free hit past the visiting goalkeeper and into the bottom corner of the net to give Harps the lead. Young goalkeeper Greg Clarke produced a string of fine saves to keep Harps' lead intact as West Herts tired to find a way back into the match.

Andy Lunn increased the home side's lead when the goalkeeper was unable to stop his fierce shot. West Herts pulled a goal back with minutes remaining but Harps held on for the win.

l Julia Power's goal was not enough as Harpenden Ladies lost 2-1 to league leaders Wapping. Harps produced one of their best displays of the season and had long periods of sustained pressure. Wapping took the lead in the first half with a neatly deflected shot but Power drew Harps level with a well-struck shot from close range.

Harps managed to hold the league leaders until ten minutes from the end when a visiting forward squeezed in a shot from two metres out.

The IIIs overcame injury and unavailability to beat Royston II 3-1. Bryony Floyd scored twice for Harps and Olivia Skinner added a third. Natalia Boniface was in excellent form and took home the Player of the Match award.

Nikki Tassell scored four times as the IIIs thrashed Chess Valley III 12-0. Natalie Munt scored three goals in the rout as Harps lead the way at the top of Division Five.
