With a multitude of events cancelled over the weekend due to the inclement weather, a number of brave St Albans Striders made it into London early on Sunday to take on The Big Half Marathon.

The run, which went from Tower Bridge to Greenwich, saw a number of Striders claim personal bests.

Nigel Aston clocked one hour 27 minutes 13 seconds, Hannah Prentice finished in 1:55:51 and Nicky Laitner took three minutes off his best to come home in 1:37:55.

Other finishers included Doug Hobson (1:27:44), Max Campbell (1:31:57), Jonathan Bird (1:35:47), Wendy Walsh (1:36:37), Richard Olney (1:42:06), Karen Sheard (1:44:49), Claire Hobson (1:47:16), Rose McGinness (1:49:03), Jaimi Wallin (1:52:03) and Rachel Aldridge (2:05:38).

There were also two new PBs at the Cambridge Half Marathon. Simon Fraser set 1:15:49 coming 29th out of more than 7,000 finishers, while Matt Jane got 1:42:11.
