North win 4-3 on penalties
ST Albans Wanderers lost their Bingham Cox quarter final on penalties on Saturday to local rivals St Albans North.
North took a 2-0 lead early on but Wanderers hit back with Alan Long winning a penalty on 37 minutes. Ian Ford converted for 2-1 and, just before half time, Long created and scored his own goal, slotting home in a crowded box.
In the second half, Wanderers were on top but could not convert their chances into goals and the match went to extra time. Strike star Long was forced to leave the field through injury and Wanderers again failed to find the net. Penalties followed and North progressed with a 4-3 shoot-out win.
