JOSEPH Peck picked up two wickets before the clash between Harpenden and Sawbridgeworth was rained off on the Common on Saturday.
Harpenden won the toss and inserted the visitors, with Peck removing opener Ashman (22) with the score on 43 and then striking immediately to dismiss number three Dean Lloyd for a duck. Danny Wilson (18 not out) was joined by Birch who faced five balls without scoring before rain forced the match to be abandoned with just 13.2 overs bowled. Peck finished with 2 for 3 off his two overs.
l In Division Seven, Harpenden IV defeated hosts St Albans III emphatically with an eight-wicket win in tough conditions.
The hosts were asked to bat first and were soon dismissed for just 112 off 28 overs. In reply, Harpenden secured victory, scoring 113-2 off 25 overs.
