Pattison all set for Haye Day after ‘best’ camp ever

Ollie Pattison is ready for his big Haye Day – after the “best camp” of his professional career.
The London Colney fighter is set to face Yeovil’s Bryn Wain as part of the undercard at former Heavyweight World Champion David Haye’s second Haye Day promotion at the O2 Arena on Saturday.
And the 26-year-old light-heavyweight is confident he can add to his unbeaten record as a pro.
Pattison said: “The training has been going really well. I feel it’s probably the best camp so far.
“I had a few problems with my last bout with it being put back two weeks.
“But this time everything has just been timed perfectly and I’m peaking at the right time in my training.
“My fitness was already ok and I train all the time but the camp has just helped me up that.”
That training continued well into this week with some hard sessions and sparring but that has finished with tomorrow (Friday) being a rest day.
And Pattison is ready take on Wain, a man he thinks could be a perfect opponent for his fifth fight.
He said: “He boxed at the same show as me last time out and I managed to see him.
“I think his style plays into my hands. He’ll be game and up for it but I think I can hurt him.”
Pattison admits that fighting on the grand scale at the O2 will probably hit him on the night but says he has had no problems with nerves so far.
“It’ll be a bit different from arriving at the York Hall but I’ve boxed for so long that I think I’ll adapt and handle it well,” he said.
He was present when David Haye held a public workout but has been kept away from most of the razzmatazz and show-business side of the sport.
However, the whole experience so far has only whetted his appetite for his future career.
He said: “If I shine then hopefully I’ll get invited back. It’s a great chance to showcase my talent and it’s the level where I want to be fighting.”
