Radlett 236-8 beat Potters Bar 234-9 by two wickets

FIFTEEN-year-old Kushal Patel was the hero for Radlett as they gained a two-wicket win over Potters Bar.

The two teams meet again this Sunday at Shenley in the Herts Cup Final, and Patel's performance ensured Shane Burger's side go into the game with the upper hand.

Patel hit 37no and took one wicket from his six overs in his man of the match showing.

Captain Burger won the toss and asked Potters Bar to bat first with Patel taking the new ball alongside his captain.

The youngster's pace, swing seam and subtlety caused the Potters Bar batsmen no end of trouble and he was unlucky to finish his regulatory six overs with just one wicket.

The visitors rallied after early setbacks, Shaftab Khalid and Will van der Maat notching up a 90-run partnership before Khalid fell to the in-form Paul Barker.

Potters Bar's innings ended on 234-9 with van der Maat finishing on 82no. Burger ended with figures of 4-43 and was well assisted by Heath Paynter's 2-34.

Radlett's reply got off to a woeful start as Kabir Toor was dismissed in the second over but Leo Sandino-Taylor took control to put the hosts back on track.

Tom Jenkins added 14 before he fell to Sikander who dismissed Fakir Dungaria with the very next ball.

Andre Sharma survived the hat-trick ball and began rebuilding with Sandino-Taylor. Sandino-Taylor had made an excellent 73-ball 89 before he was caught at cover.

Barker (15) and Shil Patel (11) came and went bringing Kushal Patel to the crease alongside Sharma and the pair led their side to victory.

Patel's innings was an eye-catching one and included two huge sixes off the bowling of the leagues leading wicket taker Khalid.
