London Colney 2 Amersham Town 1

LONDON Colney got back to winning ways on Saturday seeing off the challenge of Amersham Town.

The Blueboys shot out of the traps opening the scoring with just three minutes on the clock. Frankie Jowle intercepted a pass on the half way line and slid the ball in to David Parkinson who raced clear and drilled his shot into the bottom corner of the net.

The early goal gave Colney confidence and they pressed in search of a second goal. Gary Simmonds and Russell Gallagher had efforts saved by Amersham custodian Alan Pickering and Parkinson fired over the bar.

The Blueboys were denied an excellent chance to double their lead when, with Jowle in on goal, play was pulled back by referee Sharpon for a Blueboys freekick after Amersham defender Adam Toone had handled.

Early in the second half Toone saw his effort diverted around the post by Rob Munn while at the other end the Blueboys came agonisingly close to increasing their lead.

Jowle's shot was beaten down by Pickering and Paul Danslow, only three yards out, somehow hit the underside of the bar with his effort.

Parkinson was a menace to the Town defence all afternoon and he went close on a couple of occasions before the Blueboys eventually doubled their tally.

A backpass by Monju Ahmed was intercepted by Parkinson, who slipped the ball past Pickering and into the empty net.

Danny Fitzgerald and Parkinson had further opportunities to increase Colney's advantage before Amersham pulled a goal back through Toby Francis six minutes from time.

London Colney: Munn; Hull, Humbert, Dickie, Corran; Jowle, Magwood, Simmonds (Butcher), Gallagher, Danslow (Fitzgerald), Parkinson. Subs not used: Murphy, Hill.

THE Blueboys gained revenge for their defeat at New Bradwell St Peter two weeks ago with a 3-0 win over the same opponents in the Challenge Trophy.

David Parkinson continued his good form with another two-goal salvo, his second brace in as many games.

It was Josh Humbert who set Colney on their way, heading home Frankie Jowle's free kick after 11 minutes.

Colney were denied a good penalty shout just before half time but doubled their lead shortly after the interval when Parkinson out paced the defence and fired past Bradwell 'keeper Kieran Lampard.

The Blueboys added their third in the dying minutes, with Jowle and Cain Davey combining to tee up Parkinson who created space and shot home from ten yards.
