Letchworth IV 115-2 beat Greenwood Park 112 by eight wickets.

GREENWOOD Park were bought crashing back to earth following a comprehensive defeat at the hands of Letchworth IV.

Having lost the toss Park were put into bat in favourable bowling conditions and it did not take long for the first wicket to fall following a couple of preceding deliveries which reared up to the batsmen.

Mel Baker and Was Pervez progressed the score past 50 before the latter fell sparking a mini collapse. Baker and Shakoor Ahmed then set to consolidate both making contributions before falling in the 20s.

This led to the final few wickets being given up cheaply leaving Park on a disappointing but still relatively competitive score of 112.

Park went into the field with hope rather than expectation. The openers Sam J Nash and Ryan Atkins bowled a very tight line but did not extract as much life from the pitch as their Letchworth counterparts.

The Letchworth openers moved the score on quickly to the 50 mark before a double bowling change made the breakthrough. Karim Mahbubul and Shakoor Ahmed both picked up a wicket.

This sparked hope of a collapse for the fielding side but the Letchworth Skipper arrived at the crease to guide his side to an eight wicket win.
