BATCHWOOD Tennis Club last week hosted talent days for the Pathway to Tarbes tennis initiative.

Players, both current and new, are selected for a subsidised tennis programme with top coaches and facilities.

The Pathway to Tarbes initiative is named after a prestigious international 14-and-under tennis championships (which takes place in Tarbes, France).

Herts LTA, Batchwood TC and Gosling TC are looking to find and develop talented young tennis players in Hertfordshire.

Batchwood are looking for players at Mini Tennis Red level (aged Under 8) to invite onto the squads for September. Players attending have arrived from local linked tennis clubs across the County who have all been running their own talent searches through schools and festival days in the past few months as part of the Sportsmatch Herts Mini Tennis Trail.

The Sportsmatch Herts Mini Tennis Trail has additional funding from the government Sportsmatch programme to enable clubs to go into schools and recruit more new players to the sport and lay on festival days.

The Pathway to Tarbes programme is run at both Batchwood and Gosling on Mondays and Thursdays from 4.30pm to 6.30pm during term time.

Contact Carole Draper at Herts LTA on 01707 393372 for more information about the scheme.
