Northchurch 205-8(53) Old Albanian 128-10 (43.4)

OLD Albanian slipped into the bottom three on Saturday as they were dismissed for another low score on a good batting surface at Woollams.

Northchurch reached 205-8 from their allotted overs, with Old Albanian captain Jon Smithers picking up 5-64.

In reply, only Matt Corran provided any resistance, scoring a patient 46 from 105 balls. Wickets continued to fall around him as he tried to get some batting points for the OA side but unfortunately they fell short of the target.

OAs now have to try and turn their season around in order to avoid relegation.

Old Albanians II lost away to Old Owens on Saturday in Division Five.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, the visitors were bowled out for 128 with only Tariq Hassan and young batsman Guyan Rhodes looking positive in their approach.

The home side reached their small target for the loss of only three weeks and confirmed the frustrating run of form for OAs.

Old Albanians III secured a much-needed win on Saturday as they chased down a target of 206 in Division 11. After winning the toss captain David Goodier inserted the opposition on a pitch that favoured the batsman.

A long afternoon in the field saw Miles Price the pick of the bowlers with figures of 17 overs for 16 runs and two wickets. Fine fielding by Jon Clark also removed the dangerous Hertford skipper, who looked well set on 50. A direct hit from cover ensured that the visitors run rate was slowed.

The captain's faith in the ability of his batsman to chase down a total was confirmed through an excellent 70 from Harshal Wagh and solid contributions from Arun Parkash (41) and Paul Richardson (41 not out). Richardson was especially fluent as he steered the home side to only their third league win of the season.

Promotion chasing OA IV narrowly missed out on securing victory on Saturday in Division 13.

After winning the toss and electing to bat OAs were bowled out for 178. Kalpit Vachhani scored his first league 50 for the club and support was provided by Hiren Amin (22).

The visitors restricted Sawbridgeworth to 85 but could not take the final wicket to give them maximum bowling points. Tim Smith and Hiren Amin shared three wickets apiece.
