Tor Freeman has been promoted as Oaklands Wolves looks for a successful WBBL season.

The 23-year-old, already the club's junior coach, will join the women's side as assistant to head coach Lee Ryan while remaining as Wolves' U16 boss.

Freeman said: "The opportunity to work with the WBBL team is something that I’ve aspired to over the past few seasons so it is really exciting.

"I’m already familiar with the Oaklands style of play and the model of placing player development at the core of everything that we do.

"I can’t wait to see our young core develop over the coming season."

Ryan added: "Tor has demonstrated great maturity and professionalism in his roles in junior club coaching which made it an easy decision to bring him into the academy setup.

“We are invested in developing young British coaches at Oaklands and Tor becomes the next to get the opportunity to step up and work with the WBBL team."

His U16 side came out on top in a pre-season tournament, part of a double success for the Wolves.

Both the boys and the girls recorded narrow victories against Richmond Knights in a pair of thrilling finals, the girls winning 54-40 with Caitlin Ryan getting 15 points and Amye Swinney 10.

The boys meanwhile won 46-41 with Daniel Kostadinov scoring 22 of them.
