London Colney 1

LONDON Colney came home from their trip to New Bradwell St Peter empty-handed after slumping to a disappointing 3-1 defeat on Saturday.

The Blueboys enjoyed the majority of the play throughout the 90 minutes but still couldn't grind out a result.

Colney got off to a disastrous start when, with just two minutes on the clock, Shaun Murphy failed to clear a free kick and John Mulholland drilled the ball past Alistair Hill.

It nearly became 2-0 almost immediately when a poor Murphy back pass was handled by Hill and from the indirect free kick Adam Castagnetti struck the ball against the foot of the post with Hill well beaten.

At the other end Tom Dickie saw his header go over following Gary Simmonds' free kick.

Lee Coulter had a low drive saved by Hill before Colney drew level in the 30th minute. A long ball out by Dickie found Frankie Jowle who controlled the ball before placing a shot into the bottom corner of the net.

David Parkinson and Russell Gallagher combined to release Dave Corran but his effort was deflected behind from a corner and Dickie saw his shot flash agonisingly across the face of the hosts' goal.

New Bradwell's Ben Hill was afforded too much space by the Colney defence who had goalkeeper Alistair Hill to thank for tipping the striker's effort over the bar.

In the end it was another defensive error from Murphy that handed the lead back to New Bradwell with Joey Acheampong racing in on goal and burying the ball past Hill six minutes before half time.

Murphy nearly atoned for his error early in the second half but his goalbound header was deflected wide.

A Jowle corner curled in invitingly but rebounded off the top of the bar and a mishit shot by Simmonds was nearly deflected goal bound by Paul Danslow but New Bradwell stopper Ben Donaldson denied the Blueboys striker.

Donaldson pulled off a great save to deny Kenny Hull before the home side added the third and killer goal.

New Bradwell broke from their own half and Castagnetti shot home from just outside the area to end any challenge from the visitors.

London Colney Res. 3

Royston Town Res. 2

THE Reserves carried on their good form as they came from behind to beat Royston Town 3-2.

Paul Danslow grabbed the Blueboys' first goal with an excellent diving header from Matt Hudson's centre.

Goal number two came from Danny Fitzgerald who fired low inside the post after beating two men and Hudson grabbed the winner. Dave Townsend's free kick found Danslow who knocked the ball down for Hudson to apply the finishing touch.

The Blueboys could have increased their lead further but for an inspired performance from the Royston stopper who denied Mitchell, McCafferty, Fitzgerald, Danslow, Hudson and Wilkinson with a string of fine saves.
