Harpenden’s New Year optimism soon wore off as table-toppers Upminster scored a 6-2 success.

Using fluid distribution the visitors soon scored two quick goals.

Harpenden struggled to get a grasp on the game as Upminster continued to find the space they needed to play their game.

With no effective response from Harpenden the visitors continued their run of goals.

The second-half saw the hosts slow the opposition with Bob Voyce in goal making excellent contributions when required.

Harpenden’s now improving attack led by Ali Hutson managed to put pressure on the weaker Upminster defence resulting in a string of short corners two of which were converted in a near identical style as Danny Burgess deflected the ball past their keeper.

Unfortunately Harpenden never managed to stem the tide of goals against them making these goals nothing but a consolation.
