NETBALL: MAPLE Primary School was crowned champions of the St Albans Junior Small Schools Netball Tournament.
The girls beat an excellent team from Aboyne Lodge School in the final to become this year’s champions after they’d recorded victory in all their five first round matches, and a nail-biting semi-final triumph against St Peter’s School which was only decided by a ‘golden goal’ scored after extra time.
Teams from 12 local schools took part in the annual tournament held at Sandringham School.
Commenting on the win, Timothy Bowen, head of Maple School said: “We are absolutely delighted about this victory. Our girls have shown real teamwork and focus to achieve this outstanding result. The whole school community is very proud of their success.”
