ELLISWICK Tennis Club Finals day played host to the emergence of some talented young players. Katie Brill, aged 16, led the way by securing her first ladies singles title with an emphatic 6-4 6-2 win over Anne Spencer. Sam Harrison, aged 23, won

ELLISWICK Tennis Club Finals day played host to the emergence of some talented young players.

Katie Brill, aged 16, led the way by securing her first ladies singles title with an emphatic 6-4 6-2 win over Anne Spencer.

Sam Harrison, aged 23, won his first men's singles title with a dramatic 7-5, 4-6, 9-7 win against Maurizio Borgatti. Sam made it a double for the day by teaming up with men's captain Robert Gardiner to win the doubles with an impressive 6-2, 6-2 defeat of Dave Watkinson and Phil Comfort.

In the Ladies' doubles, Anne Spencer and Jenny Sheridan beat Anthea Doran and Margaret Benson.

Tournament organiser Anthony Harrison made it a day to remember by winning the mixed doubles with Sheridan, defeating Maurizio Borgatti and Katie Brill in an epic contest 3-6, 6-2, 13-11. The senior men's and ladies' singles plate winners were Ben Charleston and Marloes Hopkins.

Junior winners: Ollie Galea (Under 16s), Dan Watkinson (Under 14s), Nick Mastrini (Under 12s), Teighlor Pengelley (Under 16s and Under 14s) and Sian Doran (Under 12s).
