EX-SAINT Danny Morgan came back to haunt his former employers with a brace and an assist as Bishop's Stortford strolled to victory at Clarence Park on Saturday.

Danny Morgan scored three goals in 12 matches during his spell with City but he could easily have bettered that tally in this match alone.

He opened the scoring in the 19th minute, beating the Saints' offside trap before showing great composure to round Paul Bastock and roll the ball into the unguarded net.

The striker could have doubled his tally less than 60 seconds later but Bastock kept his effort out.

Danny Morgan's performance overshadowed Paul Hakim's return to the Saints lineup, though the former Stortford striker showed flashes of brilliance including a wonderful turn in the box that created half a yard of space but he shot into the side netting.

Stortford doubled their lead in the 39th minute when a corner was allowed to reach Leon Antoine at the far post and he bundled the ball over the line and the victory was all but confirmed for the visitors when Antoine grabbed his second four minutes later.

Danny Morgan was the provider this time dancing through the City defence before teeing up his strike partner for a simple tap-in.

City boss Steve Castle must have read the riot-act to the side at the interval as the Saints came out for the second half looking to add some respectability to the score.

Gary Cohen, much maligned for his goalscoring record, did reduce the deficit four minutes into the second period, racing on to Hakim's exquisite pass to slot past the advancing Nicky Morgan.

Antoine had a chance to claim his hat-trick when he latched onto a long ball over the top but he poked his effort well wide of Bastock's goal.

Ian Dunn was introduced for Chris Sullivan and he flicked on a long ball for Cohen but the Saints goalscorer was thwarted by Nicky Morgan.

Danny Morgan always looked threatening for the visitors and he could have added to his tally when he outmuscled Pete Smith on the City left and hit a shot from 30 yards that flew over Bastock but crashed off the top of the bar.

The Stortford front man didn't have to wait long for his second goal though, benefiting from Reece Prestedge's pass to lob Bastock from 25 yards after a City corner had broken down.

That wasn't the end of the goal scoring though as City pulled a goal back when Dunn reacted first after Nicky Morgan had parried the striker's initial header.

The Saints continued to push but it was the visitors who came closest to scoring again, Bastock producing a great save to tip substitute Jon Docker's effort around the post.
