There was league and cup challenges for the district’s three Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division sides with varying levels of success.
Harpenden Town’s season continues to impress as they stayed fourth in the league table with a 3-2 win away to Tring Athletic.
It was a hard-fought victory which needed a goal 19 minutes from time from substitute Sam James to clinch the three points.
Harry Hunt and David Keenleyside had scored within seven minutes of each other, midway through the first half.
Luke Dunstan and Tommy Twelves scored for Tring.
They followed that up with an equally-impressive 2-1 success over Potters Bar Town from the Bostik League Division One North, one step higher than Harps, in the Herts Senior Challenge Cup.
Jack Nevin and James Yates got the goals in the opening 10 minutes of the second half and although Rokas Janilionis pulled one back for the Scholars, it was too little too late.
Both London Colney and Colney Heath bowed out of the County cup though.
The Blueboys lost 3-2 at home to Ware while the Magpies were beaten 4-1 by SSML Premier league leaders Berkhamsted.
For London Colney it was their second 3-2 reverse in four days, following a 3-2 defeat by Leighton Town in the league on Saturday, and will be a source of frustration considering they led 2-0 at one point.
Wilson Ferreira had put them ahead from the spot after Manny Hammond had been brought down and the same player scored a delightful second, lobbing Sam Butler in the Ware goal early in the second half.
But the Bostik League side came back and two goals in two minutes from Yannick Kamanan, the second a penalty, drew them level.
Both teams had chances to win it but it was Elliott Charles who sent Ware through in the last minute.
Ronnie Smurthwaite and Zach Holding scored for the Blueboys on Saturday but they were denied a point by Alex Condon’s second-half header.
Nathan Dimmock got Colney Heath’s only goal in the cup but they had enjoyed a better time against St Margaretsbury in the league on Saturday when Lee Armitt’s injury-time winner gave them a 1-0 win.
It was their second league win this year and lifts them out of the bottom three.
