JAMES McMurray smashed his 800m personal best as he starred in the Good Friday Open Graded meeting hosted by Herts Phoenix AC at Gosling.
The versatile runner from St Albans AC has enjoyed a fine cross country season and translated his form to the track as he stormed through to record a superb time of 2.12.7 in difficult conditions. James, aged 13, was ranked number one in Great Britain in the Under 13s 800m last summer. The Sir John Lawes School pupil, from Harpenden, used the strength he has built up during the cross country season to set the new club record at Under 15s level for St Albans AC.
Javelin thrower Peta Lundgren, from St Albans, recorded 35.78m in the javelin and her brother Leo Lundgren competed in the triple jump, recording a distance of 12.48m. Peta, Leo and sister Millie compete for Herts Phoenix.
