Harry Hunt among the goals in the Spartan South Midlands Division One clash

Langford were well beaten at Forde Park on Saturday by high-flying Harpenden Town.

Yet again a poor start cost them dearly as they conceded two goals in the opening 10 minutes, the first coming as James Yates crossed in for the unmarked Michael Davies to head in.

Just a few minutes later Harry Hunt surged through a gap in the Langford defence to fire past Dan Eely in the home goal.

Langford had chances as Craig Meyrick volleyed wide of the far post and Michael Moss also shot off target when well placed, but the visitors scored a killer goal on the stroke of half-time when Ant Burns headed home from a corner.

Pat Daly almost reduced the arrears early in the second half, but his curling free-kick forced a flying save from Sam Taylor in the Harpenden goal and that really was as good as it got for Langford.

Yates steered home the fourth after 57 minutes and Tom Collin blasted in a free-kick a few minutes later for goal number five.

Langford scored a consolation goal on 71 minutes when Conner Waite raced onto a long ball and set up Craig Neild to slide the ball home.

But with the visitors in complete command substitute Ben Warren waltzed through some half-hearted tackles to make it six against a demoralised home team.
