MARY Perrott remains on target for a place in the Great Britain squad for the Junior World Championships after impressing at the Southern Counties Archery Society Indoor Championships.

After winning the event in 2007, Mary, of Abbey Bowmen, St Albans, was aiming to retain her crown and did so in fine style at the event held at HMS Collingwood, Fareham, Hants.

Mary is currently supported by the Herts Sports Partnership, as a member of the Elite Athlete Support Programme and is now sponsored by bow manufacturer Merlin, the largest British manufacturer of compound bows. She is currently ranked in first place in the Junior Girl Compound National Clout rankings, and finished second in the Junior Girls Under 16s in the British bare bow championships, at the end of 2007. Mary shot as a senior lady in the Hertfordshire indoor championships in February, finishing only one point behind first place. Also in February she competed in an open indoor competition (mainly Home Counties archers) and finished in first place, outscoring all of the senior ladies.

Mary has submitted her qualifying scores for the Junior World outdoor championships 2008, and expects to be invited to the selection shoot for the GB team in June. Before then she will train with the GB compound squad in April.
