MIDFIELDER Ram Marwa is delighted to be back at St Albans City after a difficult time at Dagenham and Redbridge this season. Marwa joined the Daggers in the summer but has now returned to Clarence Park on loan for the rest of the season. The energetic former Grays midfielder was surprised when manager Colin Lippiatt moved for him but he quickly decided he wanted the switch. Marwa said: "I loved it when I was at St Albans City before and I just wanted to come back and help the challenge for promotion. The move back sort of came out of the blue, the Dagenham manager called me in and said St Albans City have come in and want me on loan. I didn't have to think about it for long." The influence of manager Colin Lippiatt was a big factor in Marwa's return and the combative midfielder is pleased to be working under the City boss again. He said: "I got on really well with the manager, he is very relaxed and he lets me play my game on the field. The way he likes his team to play suits me." Playing in the Conference team has improved some aspects of Marwa's game but he found it difficult to adapt to the tactics at Dagenham. He said: "I didn't think the style of play was really right for me but my fitness has improved and I have been playing in midfield against better players. We played against Wycombe Wanderers which was a good test." Lippiatt was impressed with Marwa's performance alongside Tom Davis in centre midfield against Basingstoke on Saturday. The City boss said: "Ram was excellent, he gave us a lot of energy and that is what we needed in midfield. Ram has come in until the end of the season and that gives us good options in midfield." City won the match comfortably and Marwa got forward well as he looked to crown his return with a goal. He said: "I really wanted to get a goal. I enjoyed the game, it was much better for me than at Dagenham and it was good to win." City go to Lewes on Saturday and Marwa is hoping the club can continue their promotion push at the Dripping Pan where he scored last season. He said: "It is going to be a tough game for us. Hopefully we can get a good win and that would boost us a lot.
