A REDBOURN-based gymnastics club has been rewarded for two years' hard work after being awarded the Gym Mark accreditation. St Albans and District Gymnastics Club (SAADI) received the award in a ceremony conducted by internationally recognised writer and sports coach, Tom McNab, who presented senior club coach, Penny Collins, with a plaque to display at the gym.
The Gym Mark is a "quality mark of assurance" developed by British Gymnastics, in partnership with Sport England, to provide recognition for clubs that are committed to providing quality experiences for young gymnasts.
Penny Collins said: "It has been a long process requiring many hours of work but it's definitely been worth it. Everyone here is very proud to have gained the Gym Mark accreditation which recognises the quality of the club."
The club, which is run entirely by volunteers, is in its 34th year of operation and has over 20 qualified coaches.
