COLNEY Heath had to settle for a point from a drab home draw with Cockfosters at the Recreation Ground on Saturday.

Tom Dickie returned to the side at right back for the Magpies with Dean Shuttleworth, Lee Gorrell and Anthony Muthusamy forming a strong back four. In midfield Greg Deacon lined up on the right with Nathan Eno on the left. In the middle Lee Rickard partnered Neil Jordan and young forward John Rathbone made his first senior start alongside Ashley Aimakhu.

Chances were rare despite some good work from the lively Rathbone who impressed his manager. Deacon set up the best opportunity of the first half for Aimakhu who could not convert. Boss Craig Johnstone said: "John Rathbone was the bright spark in the first half. His work rate was good and his touch. The rest of the team couldn't put two passes together to support him."

In the second half Matty Cole replaced Aimakhu in attack and sparked the Magpies into life. Some good play from Cole set Rathbone away and the young Harvesters prospect fired just the wrong side of the post.

Colney Heath manager Craig Johnstone said: "It was the worst game of football I have seen in a long time. We are looking to try and beat the target we set last year of 40 points but this was like an end of season match. It would be nice to get the three points away to Hertford Town on Saturday. We play Hertford and then Oxhey Jets and four points from the two games would be good.
