LONDON Colney came back from their 1-0 defeat at the weekend with a 7-0 thrashing of Ampthill Town on Tuesday evening.

The Blue Boys started brightly and took the lead after nine minutes when David Parkinson's cracking 20-yard shot rebounded back off the post but Frankie Jowle was there to rifle the ball home.

Six minutes later London Colney doubled their lead from the penalty spot after Russell Gallagher was tripped inside the penalty area.

Gary Simmonds made no mistake from the spot.

Gallagher almost got on the scoresheet himself moments later with a shot from 20 yards but it was well saved.

Ampthill almost pulled a goal back before the break through Criag Meyrick but London Colney goalkeeper Rob Munn was equal to it. The game was effectively wrapped up in the 54th minute when Parkinson netted after some fine work down the wing by Jowle.

Gallagher then got in on the act with a curler to make it 4-0 and he grabbed his second soon after, sliding the ball home after a jinking run.

It was 6-0 in the 80th minute with a Parkinson rocket and he duly completed his hat-trick on the stroke of full time.

On Saturday London Colney are at home to Harwich and Parkeston in the FA Cup Extra Preliminary round.

l London Colney went down to a 1-0 defeat against Bedford on Saturday after failing to take their chances.

Phil Fisher netted the only goal of the game just seven minutes before half time after both Frankie Jowle and Gary Simmons had gone close to breaking the deadlock.

Colney piled on the pressure in the second half and Jowle could have levelled five minutes from time but the goalkeeper made a fantastic save.
