Five week ban for full-back Tony Wicks

LYDNEY full-back Tony Wicks has been banned for five weeks after being found guilty of stamping during Old Albanians’ 43-13 victory last month.

An RFU Disciplinary Panel, comprising Mike Curling and John Doubleday, found Wicks guilty of stamping contrary to RFU Law 10(4)(b), towards the end of the National 2 League South match at Woollams on Saturday, February 12.

While match referee Simon McConnell was unsighted Old Albanians produced video evidence and cited the player for the offence that occurred on Lydney’s side of halfway and approximately 20 metres from touch on the near side of the pitch from the main clubhouse. The score at the time was 31-13 to Old Albanians.

The ban comes into effect immediately and Wicks will be free to resume playing as from the April 28.
