Charlie Smith will suit up for St Albans City this Saturday against Boreham Wood, according to joint manager James Gray.

The Saints have agreed a new loan deal with Luton Town for the 19-year-old, who made five appearances for City during his previous loan spell and scored on his debut in a 1-0 win over Basingstoke Town, though the move has yet to be confirmed, per an official at the Hatters.

Ian Gayle plays his last game for the club this weekend before he returns to Dagenham and Redbridge. The 22-year-old has been superb during his two-month stay at the club. His departure coincides with James Kaloczi’s return from his loan at Wingate and Finchley. The 19-year-old has been at the Harry Abrahams Stadium for the past two months.

“We’ve got James Kaloczi coming back – we’ve got big hopes for him,” said Gray, who added that there could be scope to sign a centre-back.

“There’s always scope to strengthen but it has to be the right players. What’s the point in bringing someone in who is as good as James Kaloczi? Why not give James Kaloczi, at 19, a run of games?”
