GOLF: JED and Julie Whelan made it a Valentine’s Day to remember as the couple triumphed at Aldwickbury Park Golf Club’s Valentines Pairs event.
The competition saw 24 loving couples tee up on the Park Course, designed by former Ryder Cup star and BBC commentator, Ken Brown and it was the husband and wife team of Mr and Mrs Whelan who triumphed on the day.
The Whelans claimed top prize in the stableford competition, where points are awarded per hole for the team’s best score, with a points haul of 46, seeing off Eric and Dee Wyllie in second place by six points. Danny Baker and Paula Green came third, losing out on countback to the Wyllies having also scored 40 points.
Simon Folbigg, Aldwickbury Park Golf Club sales and marketing manager, said: “Congratulations to Jed and Julie Wilson for their win, it was a great victory in a competition that created a fun spirit among the members. It was great to see so many couples working together on the golf course and then enjoying a Valentines drink in the clubhouse following the competition.”
