TWO goals inside the first six minutes set Colney Heath on their way to an important three points over second-placed Hanwell Town, but it was a different story on Tuesday night as Heath slumped to a disappointing defeat at Aylesbury Vale.

Ant Muthusamy gave Heath the perfect start against Hanwell netting after only three minutes and that lead was doubled just minutes later when Dean Parratt fired home.

Lee Clarke pulled a goal back for the visitors 10 minutes after the break and they were denied a decent appeal for a penalty as the Magpies held on for the win.

Early goals were the order of the day on Tuesday too but unfortunately for the Magpies it went against them. Ben Jones fired Vale in front on seven minutes and despite Heath creating a hatful of chances it was the home side who got the next goal.

John Bentley was the man who got it, netting five minutes after half time. Richard Howard reduced the deficit with a strike in the 66th minute but Heath couldn't find an equaliser.

Manager Scott Lacey was bitterly disappointed that Heath didn't follow up their impressive win on Saturday with another three points on Tuesday and believes his side were complacent.

"We we're back to our old complacent selves. We got a great result against Hanwell but we went out and thought it'd be easy. We had 15 chances and they just wouldn't go in.

"When I've got a full squad to chose from we're a match for everyone but we've gone there thinking we'll walk it.

"Errors have cost us. They had a little bit of luck; we hit the woodwork three times and their 'keeper has made four point blank saves. On another day we'd have won 8-2 but they thoroughly deserved it.
