JOINT boss Scott Lacey is hoping Colney Heath can repeat the performance they showed in beating the previous league leaders when they face another tough challenge on Saturday at the Recreation Ground.

Victory for the Magpies, secured by a late double from Richard Howard, knocked Biggleswade Town off the top of the Molten Spartan South Midlands Premier Division, and their place was taken by Kingsbury London Tigers who beat the Magpies 1-0 earlier in the season. The Magpies host Kingsbury this weekend and Lacey, who took charge in the summer with Wesley Awad, said: "I feel we owe Kingsbury one. They beat us over there with a penalty but I felt we were the better side and should have got a result. Having beaten the league leaders last week we now play the top side again this week because Kingsbury have gone top."

The Magpies had to come from behind to defeat Biggleswade after conceding early in the second half. Substitute Aaron Clarke, aged 18, was introduced to provide some energy and after his thumping header was pushed onto the crossbar, the teenager then had a hand in both goals as the Magpies took the points. Lacey said: "Aaron hit the bar with a header from a corner and then rose above their towering centre back to win a great flick on. Richie took one touch and smashed it into the bottom corner. We then thought the job was done and fell asleep and conceded a couple of corners. From the second one we broke with young Aaron and James Eames got fouled in the penalty area. It was a lucky penalty."

Howard showed no nerves as he settled the contest firing his spot kick into the top corner and Lacey praised the striker for his impact at the club this season. He said: "Richie is a good player and a good pro. He never misses training and works hard in training. He is giving his best every week and showing the young kids how the game should be played. We've got Richie, Neil Jordan and now Nicky Winger who was superb again and they are showing the young lads how to keep playing into their early 30s.
