David Keenleyside has continued his ascent in non-league football by committing to St Albans City for the upcoming Conference South season.

A former Harpenden Town and London Colney player, Keenleyside jumped into the Southern League by signing for City in 2012 and he made nine starts, scoring twice. This season he proved his value to the team in midfield, starting 23 first team games, 15 off the bench and scoring six goals.

An ankle injury robbed him of three months of football but he came back stronger at the tail end of the season and was integral in City’s sealing fourth place in the table, beating Cambridge City in the play-off semi-final and confirming promotion to the Conference South.

Joint manager James Gray said: “Keeno is the type of creative midfielder that can open-up defences and he will be a key member of our squad next season. We have asked him to do undertake a programme to build-up his strength and stamina during the summer and we expect him to return for pre-season in peak condition.”
