David Keenleyside will miss up to six weeks for St Albans City through injury.
The midfielder rolled his ankle in the 45th minute of City’s 4-3 Herts Senior Cup loss to Hemel Hempstead last Tuesday (January 21) with Matt Taylor replacing him.
A scan revealed nothing was broken but a bad sprain looks set to keep him out of the line up until the start of February, at least.
It is a huge blow for joint managers James Gray and Graham Golds as Keenleyside has been one of the first names of the team sheet this season, starting 21 games, and he has chipped in with six goals.
